Queen Mine

I slept in this morning – until almost 1000!  It sure felt good.  Ryan had been gone for a couple of hours before I got up as he had orientation at college at 0800.  Robert and I had breakfast and I had a shower.  I did a load of laundry after Ryan came home.  And then we headed west toward Bisbee to go to the Bisbee Mining Museum.  It was really interesting – especially since Bisbee has ties to the U.P. of Michigan!!  One of the Mine Engineers or something had a degree from the Michigan Mining School which is now Michigan Tech University in Houghton!!   And the mine we toured later was part of the Calumet & Arizona Mining Company.  I guess it is a small world!  After browsing through the museum, we headed over to the Queen Mine for a tour.  It used to be a copper mine, and our tour guide used to work in the mines in the area, although not the Queen.  It was a little over an hour long and really interesting.  Before we went in, we got yellow slickers, hard hats, and lights, and then we rode a little train into the mine.  There were several places where we got off the train and walked to learn more about various things.  We even learned where the miners used to go to the bathroom.  LOL  It was 47 degrees inside the mine, and I was pretty comfortable in shorts and a tanktop with the slicker on top.  No pictures from this trip – we forgot to bring a camera with us.  Oops.  Then we headed home via a different road and drove by a huge open pit mine.  Once back to Sierra Vista, we went to Peter Piper Pizza for supper.  It’s kind of like Chuck E. Cheese with the games and stuff.  We bought some tokens and won enough tickets for Robert to get a decent size stuffed dog and a few little things as well.  It was a lot of fun, and the pizza was good, too.  Then it was home and since it was late, Robert got his toys cleaned up and got ready for bed.  After I had tucked him in, I stitched for a while.
