Detainee Release Ceremony

This morning was a ceremony with Brass Quintet.  We played at the Detainee Release Ceremony.  Now, these Iraqis aren’t just released.  There’s a whole process they go through and it is decided that they are ok to go back home.  Most of them were probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up detained because of it.  It was a rather interesting ceremony.  I have no idea what went on because it was all in Arabic and not translated.  Our cue to play the Iraqi National Anthem was when everyone stood up, we played.  And then we played soft background music while each detainee received a certificate and handshakes and stuff.  We figured it was time to stop playing when the guy up front started talking again.  And then that was the end of the ceremony.

By the time we got back, it was about 1230, so we headed to lunch.  Then when we got back to the band hall, it was back to work so no stitching for me today.  I did e-mails and a few other things on my computer until about 1530 and then I headed over to Batallion for quarterly EO (Equal Opportunity) training.  After that was over, I stopped by the post office to get a flat rate priority box to send can tabs to DG in a few days once we get all the tongues broken off them.  TD has been working on some in the evenings because of being bored.  LOL  Thanks for the help!  About 1730 I headed back to the band hall for salsa rehearsal only to find out it had been cancelled!!  So I went over to the chaplain’s office and waited for TD to be done with work and then we went to dinner together.  Once I got home, I crocheted on a prayer shawl for a while, and now I’m going to bed.
