Family Day

We slept a little late this morning, but still got up in enough time to get to church. We did arrive a little late – during the opening hymn, but we had just missed announcements and welcome. Pastor was on vacation today, we did the Service of the Word – not as much singing and no Communion (which we only do every other week anyway). We had some cake during fellowship time after and then headed to the mall. Ryan and Robbie watched the balls (a perpetual motion machine) and just walked around for a while and I went and got a manicure done. Then I bought a nice pair of real sunglasses. Ryan looked in the bookstore for some books and CDs, but didn’t find anything he wanted. After walking around for a bit more, we headed to Applebee’s for lunch. Then it was a quick stop at White’s Lumber for fire extinguishers for our house and then home for naptime. We started watching the race and I stitched some. And I did some laundry. When Robbie got up from his nap, we went and did some grocery shopping so Ryan would have something to cook for the next week. Robbie ate the rest of his cheeseburger and fries from lunch for supper, but Ryan and I didn’t eat anything. We were still full from our lunch. I got some laundry folded and started packing for my week in Washington, D.C., and then we played some before bathtime. Once Robbie was tucked into bed, we finished watching the race, and some other TV, and I stitched. And I made my weekly phone call home to my parents. I’ve now finished packing and am getting ready to head to bed.

See you tomorrow from D.C.

Today was Saturday. Ryan had to work. Robbie and I had a fun day. We had cereal for breakfast and played all morning and watched some of his Baby Einstein videos. Oh, and we walked to the Post Office to mail a couple of things. We had leftovers from dinner last night for lunch – Robbie had a bit of his cheeseburger and fries and after he was napping I had the rest of my chicken caesar wrap. Then I stitched and finished the project I was working on. I can’t post a picture of it as it is a gift for someone and I don’t know if that person reads this or not. Once Robbie woke up, we went outside and played until Ryan got home. Then he played with us for a while until we all came in so I could make supper. Ryan and I had beef chow mein (the chicken we had a while ago was better) and Robbie had the rest of his cheeseburger and fries. I gave him a choice – cheeseburger or “what Mommy & Daddy are having” and he chose cheeseburger. At least it finally got eaten. After supper (late cuz we were having so much fun playing outside) we cleaned up the toys in the living room and after Robbie was in bed, I sat down for more stitching and we watched TV. I’m about to eat some ice cream, but I need to let it thaw out enough so I can scoop it with a spoon. I broke my ice cream scoop on Easter and we haven’t gotten a new one yet. Oops. And then it’ll be off to bed for me after a little bit of computer stuff.

PT Test

I brought Robbie to daycare this morning and then headed out to Post to take my PT test. We were off from work today, but I did my test anyway. I took my test today as I won’t be around next week when the unit takes theirs. It was cold and snowy/rainy/windy so we went to the gym and did my test there. I did 43 pushups (92%), 78 situps (96%), and ran my 2 miles in 18:50 (74%). Since it was on the indoor track, I had to run 18 laps to do 2 miles. BORING!! My total score was 262. On my way home, I stopped and picked up Robbie from daycare and we came home and played for a while before naptime. While he napped, I stitched for about 20 minutes and then ended up sleeping on the couch for about an hour or so. We played more when he got up and then when Ryan got home from work, we headed into Watertown to go to the Home & Garden Show. It was ok, but not nearly as big as the ones they have at home in the Dome. We ate at Shorty’s Diner after on our way home. Now Robbie’s in bed and I should go stitch and we have TV to watch, but I’m tired and I think I’m going to bed early tonight.

A new Commanding General

There was no PT this morning since we had formation at 0830. Then we just stood around for 45 mintues doing nothing. We finally got on the bus and headed over to the gym for the Division Change of Command ceremony that started at 10. We started our pre-music about 0945. The ceremony went well, and now the 10th Mountain Division (LI) and Ft. Drum has a new Commanding General. Once we got back to the rehearsal hall, we did clean ups and were done for the day. I headed to my Ops office and took care of a couple of phone calls and some computer stuff – I’ve finally got myself organized and am starting working on the Government travel cards for the unit. I left about 1:30 and stopped for gas on my way home. Once home, I did some computer stuff and read a few newspapers before my guys got home. Today was Ryan’s day off and he went and took the written airbrake test for his Class B license. He passed!! Next is his driving test. But he got called into work as they needed another driver. So he’ll get a little overtime this week probably since he’s scheduled to work on Saturday. He picked Robbie up on his way home. We played for a while before supper – pigs n’ cheese – and then some more before bathtime. We got two videos of Robbie being silly while he was playing. I hope they make you smile!

Off to my stitching and TV now and then to bed.

Rehearsal Day

For PT this morning we had a rehearsal for the music for the Division Change of Command tomorrow. We could have had our rehearsal at 8:30 or 9, thus giving us time to do PT on our own, but whatever. LOL Rehearsal went well and we were done by 8. I came home for a bit and did a load of laundry, computered, etc. and went back for 0930. I got some stuff done in my Operations office finally and also got a phone call about something, but you’ll find out about that next week (a few of you know for now. . .). After lunch we had full dress rehearsal for the Change of Command. We went through it twice and it went well. After we got back to the rehearal hall, we did details and were done for the day. I picked Robbie up on my way home and we stopped at the post office. He likes helping me carry mail that needs to be mailed. Then we got home and played and watched a little bit of a videotape of cartoons from when I was growing up – saw an ad with a date, and they are from 1984. Boy have cartoons ever changed from the good days. Anyone remember the Shirttails? Muppet Babies? Ryan had to work a little later this evening and when he got home, we went to our local Chinese buffet for supper. Then it was home to play for a bit and then bedtime for Robbie. Once he was in bed, I took out my crocheting and I called Mom & Dad (partly because I hadn’t called them on Sunday, and partly to tell them what I’ll be doing next week). Then Ryan and I watched some TV.

Back to Work

It was back to work for me today, but it’s going to be a short week. For PT this morning, we did pushups and crunches – 80 of each. Then most of the rest of the morning was spent in rehearsal for Thursday’s change of command ceremony. At 11 we had a formation at Battalion to present BG Tata with his going away gift from the Battalion. At least it was short and the Battalion commander didn’t cut into lunchtime (unless you were a Commander or First Sergeant or a member of the Command Staff – they had their Command & Staff meeting over lunch). I got quite a bit of stitching done at lunch today, and then after lunch was more music. We had sectionals for an hour and then full band rehearsal for another almost hour. When rehearsal was done, we did details and I made a couple of phone calls in my Ops office. Then on my way home, I stopped at the ASAP (Army Substance Abuse Program) building to turn in my roster from the class we had a week and a half ago. And then it was on to the grocery store for food for the week. Once home, I put the groceries away, scooped the cats’ litter box, and got supper in the oven. I used one of the Banquet Homestyle Bakes and it was really good. It was chicken and veggies in some kind of sauce with biscuits on top. After supper, Ryan said it was a do-again! After supper we played until bedtime. I read a well-known book (in our family, anyway) to Robbie tonight – Roger Poger’s Upside Down Day. Recognize it? LOL Once Robbie was in bed and we had folded and put away the load of clothes on our bed, I sat down with my crocheting and we watched some TV.
