(PINCH) – that’s for any of you not wearing green! LOL
I had a pretty good day today. Robbie and I got to sleep in as I didn’t have formation until 12:30. The only thing we had today was the St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Augusta. We had a nice morning, and I even got off the computer enough to stitch a little while he had his (short) morning nap! I brought him to Suzanne’s and headed off for the parade – with my stitching of course! I got a little over an hour done during the bus ride there and back. The parade went well, but it was COLD – only about 37 out all day. There were quite a few people lining the parade route and that was nice. The parade was about 1 1/2-2 miles long – not bad at all. Once that was done and I had picked Robbie up, we came home and played until Ryan got home from work. When he got home and showered, we went to Cici’s Pizza for their all-you-can-eat buffet. There were coupons in yesterday’s newspaper for free adult buffets, so for $2.76 for our 2 drinks, we had all the pizza we could eat! Not often that we can eat for that!
I guess I haven’t written for a while again. I keep meaning to, but it just never seems to happen. I had a good and relaxing weekend. Friday was my unit’s Change of Command ceremony and once that was done, we had the rest of the day off. That was nice being able to spend some time home with Robbie!! Saturday Ryan and I cleaned up around the house a bit – started Robbie-proofing things. Our living room seems much bigger now as we’re donating our coffee table to our church’s yardsale that’s coming up. All it was doing in the living room was collecting clutter, and now it and the clutter are gone!! In the early afternoon my friend Yvonne stopped by with Subway subs for us (me and her – Ryan was supposed to go to a living history event and that fell through so he was home but Yvonne didn’t know he was home) to chat for a while. I had planned on having a stitching day, but no one could make it. So Yvonne stopped by after her softball practice for a bit.
Sunday was Church and our prospective Pastor has accepted our call!! YAY!! His first day with us will be 1 May. We’ll all miss Pastor Nancy, but it will be nice to have a permanent pastor again. In the afternoon we watched the NASCAR race and played with Robbie and stitched.
Monday was my BIRTHDAY!!! I had put in for a pass, so I was able to sleep in and not have to go to work. Robbie and I had a great day playing together, and I got some extra stitching in during his naps. In the evening, Ryan took me to TGI Friday’s for a birthday dinner. I got a free ice cream sundae (chocolate, of course) for dessert, but they didn’t sing to me. I was disappointed about that. I got one present – a BEAUTIFUL tied-edge fleece blanket from my parents!! It’s black and got all kinds of colorful music stuff on it. I love it!! THANKS MOM AND DAD!!!
The rest of the week has just kind of been. Lots of drill band rehearsals for our parade tomorrow and concert band this morning. It’s been a pretty easy week actually.
This week has just flown by it seems. Robbie’s 6 month well baby exam was on Monday and that went well. He is growing good and getting bigger every day. He had 4 more shots and did really well with them. Tuesday afternoon was a ceremony for the Women’s History Month celebration here on post. Our Commanding General, MG Janet Hicks, was the guest speaker. I always love listening to her speak. Yesterday was a pretty boring day – so boring that I was able to complete an Army Correspondence Course online in the afternoon. Today was equally as boring. I spent a little time on my trombone, my squad leader gave me my quarterly NCO counseling, and then this afternoon I went to the Education Center to get information on starting a Master’s Degree and then I had an eye appointment. The Optometrist did the dilation thing with the eye drops and now everything is blurry and bright lights are REALLY bright. He gave me the cool “sunglasses” to wear home. I ended up cancelling my appointment with my personal trainer as the blurriness made me sick to my stomach. I’ll be spending the rest of the evening probably crocheting – I don’t know if I’ll be able to see to cross stitch. We’ll see, though.
This sure was a long week after having some days off the past couple of weeks. Today was a pretty easy day. We had concert band this morning and we’re actually playing some pretty challenging pieces! It was a fun rehearsal. In the afternoon I audited my unit fund book and everything came out perfect. I did that just in case our incoming commander wants to see my books. Then I had my annual female appointment and came home. It was nice picking Robbie up early and getting home early! I didn’t even have to cook dinner as I had put some pork chops and a mushroom sauce in my crockpot after PT before I went back for concert band. They turned out really well, and I made some mashed (fake) potatoes to go with them. I got a couple of hours of stitching in after we put Robbie to bed – in his own room for the first time. I just peeked in on him a few minutes ago, and he’s sound asleep in the corner of his crib. Whole big bed and he’s curled up in a corner! LOL
Tuesday morning I started going to regular unit PT again as my pregnancy profile is expired. I’m going to miss being able to go to the gym and do my own thing, but I’m also glad to be back with all my friends and their stupid jokes and (sometimes) crass comments. It really is fun. We’re doing quite a bit of running and I’m looking forward to that. We’re also doing a lot of pushups and situps and variations thereof. I’m still sore from Tuesday’s session, but it’s a good sore and I’ll get back to where I need to be in good time. I do think I bruised my tailbone doing situps on the hard floor of the band hall – I’m going to keep an eye on it (well, not literally – I’m not that flexible) and if it doesn’t get any better, I’ll go to the doctor for it.
Robbie is growing bigger and stronger everyday it seems. He’s 6 months old now and his 6-month checkup is this coming Monday. I can’t wait to see how much he weighs – he sure feels heavy. He’s really starting to sleep good at night, and he is a very good eater – loves his bedtime oatmeal!
I’m going to stop now before I keep babbling on. I’m tired.
